Brian, Bennett, Lauren and Lyla

Lauren’s homeschool journey began when Lyla was just 2 years old. Brian and Lauren had a desire for abundance and flexibility in their children’s education. No matter what struggles or gifts their kids may have, they knew they wanted to be able to customize things to fit their needs. When Bennett was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in August of 2018, it further solidified their calling to the homeschool life. As the last few years have passed, she has seen the blessings from every angle of being side by side, witnessing her kids grow and learn.

Houma Catholic Schoolhouse was born out of a deep desire to be obedient to the Lord’s calling and to have a place for Catholic homeschoolers to come together in community to share faith, friendship, and do some learning along the way too. We have come to love Catholic Schoolhouse for all those reasons and more.

Lauren and Brian were married in March of 2013, after dating for 3 years. Lauren a graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School and University of Louisiana at Monroe. Brian a professional firefighter and graduate of Terrebonne High School and LSU Eunice. They are parishioners at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma.
